EIA Rules
Safety is the number one priority at any airsoft event! All events in East Idaho Airsoft will follow these rules to ensure each player is safe. Failure to follow these rules may result in the inability to attend events. A general overview of these rules will be given in a briefing before any event is started. The rules for East Idaho Airsoft events can change. Any changes will be updated here. For questions about event rules, please contact the event organizer.
Section 1: General

1.1 Airsoft is a game of HONOR. Please call your own hits.

1.2 DO NOT call other players out for not calling their hits. Calling other players out is poor
sportsmanship. If you witness someone getting hit, speak to him or her after the game
personally. Sometimes players don’t even feel a hit when adrenaline is running high. If they
continue to not call their hits, report them to an admin. Admins will take action against
players that do not call their hits.

1.3 Players who repeatedly choose not to call their hits or cheat will not be invited back to
future game events.

1.4 Players caught stealing or otherwise breaking the law will be asked to leave and will be
banned from future events. A police report will be made, and charges may be pressed if
applicable.

1.5 This is a game. Be professional but understand that this is not a matter of life or death,
so fighting will not be tolerated.

1.6 Typically, there is no restriction on what kind of camouflage or clothing you can wear.
However, some events will have uniform requirements dictating what can and can't be worn
in game. The only clothing type that is otherwise prohibited is red/yellow/orange clothing
(shirts, pants, hats, etc.) These colors are used to denote Referees or Spectators (such as a
cameraman). Offensive messages and insignias on clothing are also prohibited.

1.7 Have fun, and remember you have a responsibility to help others to have fun as well.

1.8 The Green zone is the staging area where players gear up at the start and end of each
game. Between games absolutely no firing, including dry firing, is allowed within the green
zone. If you need to test your weapon, step outside of the green zone, wear eye protection,
and fire away from players in the green zone. Players are allowed to remove eye protection
while in the green zone between games, so be safe and smart so nobody is hurt.

1.9 Bringing real firearms to an airsoft event is strictly prohibited. Airsoft replicas only.

Section 2: Eye/Face Protection

2.1 Eye protection must be worn at ALL times while in a playing area. Eye protection can
only be removed in an established green zone at the end of each game.

2.3 Eye protection should be ANSI Z87.1-1989 certified. This standard is usually posted
either on the packaging or on the manufacturer's website.

2.4 Mesh goggles are not acceptable eye protection and cannot be worn unless
supplemented with ANSI Z87.1-1989 rated goggles or lenses.

2.5 Face and mouth protection is highly recommended, but not required. Most paintball
masks work fine but some also have holes large enough for a bb to slip in, so be wise in your
choice of face protection.

2.6 Call "blind man" anytime that you or someone around you loses their eye protection, is
seriously injured, or a non-player without eye protection has entered the field. This is
particularly common at fields like Anthrax because it is public property and hikers and
fishers frequent there. When someone calls blind man echo it until all players have heard it.
When blind man is called, the airsoft game pauses and all players remain where they are and
cease fire. The game will not resume until an admin has assessed/resolved the problem. Once
the problem is resolved an admin will call out for the game to resume. Players need to echo
the call-out so all players know to resume the game and can then move and shoot again.

Section 3: Hits/Kills

3.1 Getting hit anywhere is counted as a “kill”. Hand, foot, and gear shots DO count.

3.2 Friendly fire counts! Check your targets!

3.3 If two participants fire simultaneously and both are hit, BOTH participants are out.

3.4 NO BLIND FIRING. You may only fire your weapon so long as you have a direct line of
sight at what it is you are shooting.

3.5 It is recommended that players should have and use a red/orange rag to signify they are
“dead” and/or out of play; but this is not a requirement (see rule 3.6). And please don’t be
angry if you are shot as a “dead” player. Other players can sometimes be jumpy or there may
be players around you still in play. Move away from them to avoid being shot again after
already calling your hit.

3.6 If you are hit by a bb, raise your hand over your head and yell, “Hit!” Be mindful that you
may have to say it several times before others will stop shooting at you. (If you have one, it
is recommended that you wave your red/orange rag above your head momentarily, then tie
it around/through the front sight of your rifle or attach it to your head). If necessary, remove
yourself from the area back to the re-spawn/staging area.

3.7 A “dead” player is out of play and cannot talk, use the radio, or give away enemy positions.
Other than to call for a medic, a “wounded” player must adhere to these same rules.

Section 4: (CQB) Close Combat and FPS Regulations

4.1 Melee kills with rubber knives are allowed. A swiping motion, or tap on an opponent's
shoulder is fine (this is the only time in a game situation where you can call someone else
out). Aggressive contact from a melee weapon will not be tolerated. Throwing melee
weapons do not count as a “kill” and will not be tolerated.

4.1.1 Melee weapons need to be made of foam or rubber or encased in foam or rubber.
Wood, plastic, or metal melee weapons, even if they have a dull edge, are strictly
prohibited.

4.2 When engaging in close combat be sure to aim for gear and the chest. Never aim for the
head, neck or face of the target (the only exception to this rule is if the head, neck, or face is
the only target being presented).

4.3 The “Bang! Bang!” rule is considered optional. It should be used as a courtesy to
unsuspecting players but is not enforced. However, minimum engagement distances still
apply with the bang bang rule. See section 4.4.7 for more details.

4.3.1 The Bang! Bang! rule usually is specified as coming within 10ft of another player
and having “full control” of the situation. “Full control,” in this instance means that
Player A must have his weapon drawn and in operable status whilst being pointed at
Player B, who has his back turned to Player A or is otherwise unaware of Player A’s
presence. Player A would then audibly say, "Bang! Bang!" to Player B as a way to show
courtesy to said player.

4.3.2 Be wise, the “Bang! Bang!” rule CANNOT be used while the both of you are
looking directly at one other.

4.3.3 The “Bang! Bang!” rule CANNOT be used indoors.

4.3.4 If a player says, "Bang! Bang!" to you, you should honor the kill. However,
because it is optional, you can contest the opposing player and attempt to avoid being
shot or to shoot the opposing player, although it is unlikely you will win in such an
instance.

4.4 Minimum engagements must be followed (chronograph readings measured with a .20g
BB):

4.4.1 CQB Rifles/Pistols: Weapon fires no more than 350 fps/1.14 Joules – No
Minimum Engagement indoors and outdoors.

4.4.2 Assault Rifles/Support Weapons: Weapon fires 350-415 fps/1.15-1.60 Joules –
Not permitted indoors/minimum engagement 15ft outdoors.

4.4.3 Designated Marksman Rifles (DMR): 415-500 FPS/1.60-2.32 Joules – Not
permitted indoors/Minimum engagement 50ft outdoors. DMRs must fire single-fire
only.

4.4.4 Snipers: 415-550 FPS/1.60-2.81 Joules – Not permitted indoors/Minimum
engagement 50-100ft outdoors depending on FPS. Bolt-action only.

4.4.5 Any weapons exceeding 550 FPS (2.81+ joules) are considered “hot” and are
not permitted indoors/ minimum engagement should be 100ft+. Be wise, these guns
are potentially too dangerous for play. Be aware, you most likely will be asked not to
use the weapon if its anything other than a bolt-action.

4.4.6 East-Idaho Airsoft reserves the right to change any of these rules and
communicate them to our participants during the event to ensure the high quality and
safety of our event is maintained.

4.4.7 Remember that minimum engagement distances still apply for bang bang
situations. If you have a replica that is above 350, then you cannot use that replica to
"bang bang" another player. You will need to pull out a pistol or other sub 350 replica
to use bang bang on an unsuspecting player.

4.5 When moving indoors you should switch to a sub-350 fps weapon.

Section 5: Grenades

5.1 Commercially produced smoke grenades, frag grenades, and flash grenades are
authorized for participant use.

5.2 To avoid arguments, there is no distinction between a flash and frag grenade, e.g., a
thunder B has just as much “kill” potential as a pea grenade.

5.3 Frag/flash grenades have a “kill” radius of 10 ft from where the grenade comes to rest
(not point of impact). This is particularly important when using the Tornado TM type
grenades – there are too many issues of whether or not a BB spraying from these hits a
participant or not, so we just treat these as if they were inert rubber grenades, but with
cool effects. So no matter how far BB’s may project from the grenade itself the “kill” radius
remains 10ft from the point of rest.

5.3.1 If you are using one of these types of grenades, you must arm it according to
manufacturers' instructions and then toss it. If the grenade fails to detonate, it is
considered a “dud” and has no effect on opposing participants.

5.3.2 Players behind no cover when a hand grenade goes off within the kill radius
are considered “killed/wounded” and must follow “re-spawn/healing” procedures
depending on the game type.

5.3.3 Participants behind soft cover (Bushes, Shrubs, Grass, and Small Trees) are
“killed/wounded” and must follow “re-spawn/healing” procedures depending on
the game type.

5.3.4 Participants behind solid cover (rocks, hills, bunkers, vehicles and trees much
larger than their body) with the cover between them and the hand grenade resting
place are considered alive.

5.3.5 If a hand grenade is thrown, hits an object, bounces back, lands and detonates
near the thrower, they along with everyone in the 10’ radius are “hit”.

5.3.6 You may kick a grenade out of the way before it goes off or pick it up and
throw it back. However, this is not Act of Valor. You may not dive on the grenade to
save your buddies.

5.4 Smoke grenades are not authorized for use inside buildings and structures. Due to the
dry environment that we live in, smoke grenades have the potential to start wildfires. Be
wise with where and when to use them.

5.5 Participants are not authorized to bring or use fireworks.

5.6 Homemade pyrotechnics, including homemade smoke grenades, are not authorized.

5.7 Bang 22s or other metal body grenades need to be thrown underhand to avoid landing
on a player and potentially injuring them.

Section 6: The “Abandoned House” Field

6.1 When an event is scheduled at the Abandoned House in Idaho Falls, please bring $5 for
the field-use fee. This is not our land and we must be respectful to the owner’s property and
rules.

6.2 Players are not allowed on the second floor of the abandoned house. The floor is not
secure and will break. Be safe!

Section 7: Age Restrictions

7.1 We allow participants as young as 12 at our events. All participants under the age of 16
must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

7.2Note that while we allow minors to attend, our events are designed for a mature audience
and require a level of self-control and respect not typically found in minors. Please consider
this before bringing minors as it can negatively affect your experience and the experience of
those around you.

Section 8: Riot Shields/Special Weapons

8.1 Riot Shields are allowed at most all EIA fields.

8.2 You are only allowed to use sidearms in tandem with riot shields. CQB/short barrel rifles,
shotguns, and smgs of any kind are not allowed to be used with a riot shield.

8.3 When firing a weapon with the riot shield, you must expose part of your body. For
example, you need to move the riot shield away from your body enough to look down your
sights when firing. Firing from the side of the shield without exposing your body is no longer
permitted.

8.4 Riot shields do not count as hard cover from grenades; any grenade that goes off within
a ten foot radius of someone with or covered by a riot shield is out.

8.5 Any other non-traditional airsoft weapon must be cleared for use by an admin at each
individual game including but not limited to: Nerf rockets, foam or plastic bows and arrows,
mortars, tripwire grenades, claymores, etc.

Section 9: Specialized Equipment (NVGs and Lasers)

9.1 Visible lasers of any kind/class are not allowed for use in EIA games.

9.1.1 Non-visible IR lasers used with Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) can be permitted for use
by admin and hosts of individual games. An admin and the game host will need to clear the
IR laser for use prior to the games for that day/night.*

9.2 Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) use is typically permitted, although occasionally hosts or
game modes will not permit their use. Please check with the game host before the event to
verify whether or not they will allow NVG use. See section 10.1.1 for more details.

9.3 Any other military grade or special equipment that provides players with a unique
advantage needs to be cleared for appropriate use by an admin.*

* If any sort of IR laser or special equipment that is cleared for use by an admin and host at
one game, it does not permit the equipment to be used from that point forward for any game.
It needs to be cleared for use at each and every game.

Section 10: Night Games

10.1 Night Games are unique and call for modified rules for fair play. All players are required to use either a flashlight (when firing their replica) or a tracer unit during night games.
Shooting without use of either of these is against the rules and action will be taken against
any player that fails to follow these rules.

10.1.1 The only exception to this rule is modified game modes including players that
have NVGs. However, such exceptions will only be allowed if decided upon by the
game host jointly with an admin.
